Ethiopia welcomes Egypt’s decision to solve GERD issue through dialogue

frtyAddis Ababa, 12 June 2014 (WIC) – Ethiopia welcomes Egypt’s decision to return back to a dialogue over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).
Newly elected Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has recently insisted that the dam issue must be solved through talks

“Ethiopia strongly welcomes Egypt’s interest to re-launch talk over the GERD and solve the problem through dialogue,” Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Ambassador Dina Mufti told journalists today.
“Egypt has no other option except dialogue and win-win negotiation to find a solution that is acceptable by both sides,” Ambassador Dina said

Regarding the current crisis in South Sudan, he said the warring parties on Tuesday have agreed to form a transitional government within the coming 60 days.
IGAD member countries have been frustrated by the failure of previous deals, he said, adding they will not hesitate to take action if the rivals once again violate the agreements made on last Tuesday

According to Ambassador Dina, peacekeeping force drawn from Ethiopia, Uganda and Kenya will be deployed to end the crisis erupted in that country six months ago.
