Ethiopia´s Foreign Minmister, Dr. Tedros Adhanom, held discussions on 15 February 2013 with the UK Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg at his offices on bilateral relations and regional matters of mutual interest. On the occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister conveyed his admiration to the Minister for Ethiopia’s successful pursuit of its economic and social development over the past decade. The Deputy PM affirmed the UK’s support for Ethiopia’s positive role in mediation efforts between Sudan and South Sudan as well as committing further support to its involvement in the consolidation of peace and stability in Somalia.
The Minister thanked the UK for its unwavering support for Ethiopia’s comprehensive development initiatives while assuring the Deputy PM that their partnership has always been appreciated by the people of Ethiopia. Mr. Clegg also expressed his appreciation for the outstanding efforts the country had made in the pursuit of the green economy. He described Ethiopia as “a world leader” in this regard. He concluded the discussions by congratulating the Minister on the country’s attainment of six out of eight Millennium Development Goals.
